The first-ever Parol Festival lit up Temecula in December 2022, drawing over 600 community members from across the Inland Empire—rain or shine! Despite the downpour, the spirit of resilience and joy filled the air. Families were uplifted by incredible performances from Genbu Daiko Drumming School, Puahi Polynesian, UJammers, and a stunning AAPI Fashion Show presented by our partners at Asian Pacific Counseling and Treatment Centers (APCTC).
Kabataan Culture brought families together through a Parol-making workshop, fostering creativity and connection, while APCTC offered a soothing mental health self-care candle workshop—a beautiful reminder of community care during the holiday season. Local organizations joined in to share valuable resources, showcasing the heart and unity of our AAPI community.
Building on that success, the Parol Festival returned even brighter on December 3, 2023, taking center stage in Murrieta at Shivela Middle School! The celebration grew to feature over 60 incredible vendors, offering a dazzling mix of artisan crafts, delicious eats, and cultural pride.
The festival buzzed with excitement as crowds enjoyed live performances from Genbu Daiko, That’s the Kids, and Filipino Martial Arts, plus a special appearance by Santa Claus himself! With food stands selling out and families celebrating side by side, the event became an unforgettable showcase of community, culture, and holiday joy.
The 3rd Annual Parol Festival once again transformed Shivela Middle School into a vibrant hub of AAPI culture and community spirit. This year’s celebration brought the same incredible energy, featuring beloved returning artisans, community groups, and cultural performances that have become festival favorites. From handcrafted treasures and mouthwatering dishes to heartwarming performances that celebrated our shared heritage, the Parol Festival continued to shine as a joyful gathering of unity, creativity, and holiday cheer.
